Hello, Beautiful People! Welcome to August’s Blog
As we step into August, I’m excited to continue our exploration of balance, this time focusing on the delicate dance between success and disappointment—embracing the process of trial and error. This month, I feel particularly drawn to reflect on my journey with my envisioned garden oasis and my storefront, both of which have been filled with moments of joy and frustration.
My desire to create a thriving green oasis on my patio has faced challenges I hadn’t anticipated, such as the intense heat, relentless winds, and, let’s not forget, the ever-curious squirrels. The journey has been a mix of success and disappointment, much like my experiences with the storefront. We’ve celebrated wonderful moments where beautiful people have come together, but there have also been times when my expectations didn’t align with reality, leading to feelings of disappointment.
In navigating this landscape of highs and lows, I’ve come to understand the importance of meeting ourselves in the truth of how things are, rather than how we wished they would be. Trusting the natural growth process means accepting that life lessons often come through adversity.
This leads me to contemplate what happens in our mind and bodies during times of disappointment and uncertainty. I find myself asking: Do you feel a sense of hopelessness? A tightness in your chest? Perhaps fear of the unknown? I certainly experience a whirlwind of emotions—an urge to give up, self-judgment, and the nagging thought that I’m not doing it right. However, through these feelings, I’ve realized that we aren’t meant to have all the answers. It’s perfectly okay to acknowledge that we’re still learning.
To navigate these feelings, I’d like to share some personal and professional approaches that can help balance and integrate our desires, expectations, successes, and disappointments. One powerful technique is to bring awareness to our breath, allowing ourselves to connect with the present moment. With each breath, we cultivate faith—not just in ourselves but also in the fascinating process of cause and effect. We must trust that when we plant seeds of intention, something will grow.
In moments where heaviness creeps into my body and hopelessness attempts to overwhelm me, I turn to the wisdom of embodied somatic experiences, movement and breathwork. The breath becomes my anchor, guiding me to meet myself in those spaces of tension, disillusionment, and desire to abandon. With each inhale, I intentionally bring in forgiveness and acceptance, creating space within to confront the disappointments with grace and openness.
It is in the exhale that the transformation begins. With each release, I shed the weight of disappointment and unmet expectations, allowing space to grow for new insights. By inviting my spirit guides, higher self, and inner child to collaborate in finding creative solutions, I shift from being overwhelmed by the challenge to actively engaging in the process of growth and adaptation.
As we live and learn, we evolve, adjust, and grow from our experiences. I encourage you to identify where fear and tension reside in your body. Bring your breath and mindful movement to these areas, allowing the energy to flow rather than stagnate. Instead of giving up, we learn to move forward—adapting and adjusting, ultimately appreciating the beauty of the process and journey itself, rather than fixating solely on the outcome or destination.
So this August, let’s celebrate the process of trial and error. Let’s honor our growth through lived experiences, adaptability, hope, persistent breath, movement, and the connections we make along the way. Together, let’s embrace the journey, recognizing that each misstep and triumph teaches us something valuable.
Here’s to a month of learning, growing, and embracing all the beautiful uncertainties that life has to offer!
Respect and Gratitude
